Cowes 2021
Linda Kayton July 31, 2021
60yr old Sv baby has a rendezvous with 60 yr old Stormvogel in Cowes before the Fastnet Race 2021 - 60 yrs after her debut race - Fastnet 1961. Thanks to owner Ermanno, who I hope to have the pleasure to meet one day and NZ skipper/manager Graeme Henry as well as NZ skipper/boatbuilder Ian, a beautifully sensitively overhauled Sv is in Cowes, England. I spent some time aboard her on 22 July 2021 after her day\'s race in the British Classic Week regattas. My dad, the late Gordon Webb, was involved with the initial Sv project and owner builder, Cornelius Bruznzeel (Kees or CB) in Cape Town, South Africa along with others. I sailed at age 7 months old with mom, Jenifer Webb and my dad who skippered and trained the young crew in preparation for this first Maxi yachts\' participation in the internationalal yacht racing scene. Another \'maiden voyage\' has just been completed from Sv overhaul in Bodrum, Turkey to Cowes and a young crew has also joined this classic, beautifully finished Ketch, skippered/trained by Graeme Henry. She is making a new history. Well done to her owner for persevering and saving her life and for all on her continuing project. Thank you that I could reconnect with my best yacht in the world - looking her best ever. All good wishes for an envigorating Fastnet 2021 and Sv Racing/Cruising ahead. Sv baby - Linda Kayton ( nee Webb)
