1961 Maiden Voyage

Hans Beele photo collection. I am the brother of one of the 14 crew compliment that left Cape Town in May 1961 ( 60 years ago ). My brother Hans Beele who passed away earlier this year left slides of his experiences in an adventure that took him up the African west coast, the Azores and onto outstanding victories in the St Nazier and Fastnet maxi races. Kees Bruinzeel was aboard with Van de Stadt and Stormvogel skipper Gordon Webb for the racing. Later they continued through the Med, Greek Islands, Suez and down the East coast back to Cape Town.
